TODAY'S RHEMA Luke 22:40 On reaching the place, he said to them, "Pray that you will not fall into temptation."
Kezia and her friends get a small pot of flower seeds from their kindergarten teacher. From time to time, she watered as instructed by the teacher. Sometime later, they were asked to bring their pots. The kids seemed so happy presenting their beautiful flowers in front of the class. When it was the time for Kezia to present, she cried on her seat instead. The flower didn't grow well. There was only a fragile thin steam with its pale and small leaves. The teacher then asked how Kezia treated the pot. Trying to hold back the tears, Kezia replied, "I have watered it every day, Miss. I even put and protected it in my room." Hearing this, the teacher smiled and said, "That's good Kezia. You have done it well but this flower needs sunlight to grow."
Yes, without sunlight, the process of photosynthesis that produces food for plants is inhibited. As a result, not only will the stem not rise nor the leaves widened, but the roots are also not solid. Plants are also vulnerable to attacks of pests and other diseases. The same applies when we receive the seed of God's word. Like the disciples of Jesus who had listened to His teachings for three and a half years, they still could not grow their spirit man. When the greatest test for them arrived, when the Lord Jesus was captured, their faith collapsed and they fled.
In order for us to grow spiritually, it is not enough just to hear the word from time to time. We need fellowship with God through consistent prayer. Through prayer, God illuminates our hearts and processes the word so that it becomes more and more like the content of His heart. The stronger our prayer life, the more our spirit becomes united with His Spirit. Our faith then becomes stronger and we become spiritual giants He uses to do great things. REFLECTION Saudara Terkasih, When you DON'T ACTIVATE your prayer life, your faith will be STUNTED and UNABLE to become a spiritual giant. APPLICATIONS 1. How has your prayer life been? 2. Why do you need to activate your prayer life? 3. How do you reactivate or improve the quality of your prayer life? TODAY'S PRAYER "My good Father please forgive me for not taking my prayer life serious. Give me a new heart to be obedient and submissive, so that I may be able to pray and be more intimate with You and my spirit may experience growth as You will. In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen."
