TODAY'S FOOD FOR THE SOUL Mark 4:24-34 TODAY'S RHEMA Mark 4:34 He did not say anything to them without using a parable. But when he was alone with his own disciples, he explained everything.
These days, there are no places with crowd visitors unless the place is the unique and great site for photo taking where people can brag about on social media. When a foreign artist opened an exhibition in Jakarta, many people would excite to go as well, especially the younger generation. That happened to Ben and his friends. They wouldn't want to miss such an opportunity. They went there and walked around in marvels to see such a great work of art. Ben saw many unusual works with polka-dot motifs. There was also a room consisting of lots of glass and glowing balls. All of that raises the atmosphere of the dream world. After taking many photos, they went home with a satisfied heart. However, Ben begins to wonder, "What is it that the artist really thinks to make such works?"
Reaching home, he began to find out on the internet about the artist and his works. He also found the artist's life history and his various interview articles. The more he knows, the more he understands why the unusual works are born out of the artist's hands. All of a sudden, all the works looked different in this young man's eyes. He is no longer just an art connoisseur. He understands how the artist perceives the world, his imagination, and his emotions embodied in every work.
When we read or listen to the word of God, sometimes we also have the same heart attitude with most of the young people above. We feel enough just to know many Bible verses and stories. We think that's enough. We are like the people who follow Jesus wherever He goes. They loved listening to the remarkable sermons of Jesus in those days. However, only those who have stayed with him until the end to listen more, Jesus explained what he preached until they understood the words and the content of his heart. Yes, when listening to the word, open our hearts wide, let the word fall and root in our hearts. So we can grow into spiritual giants that bear much fruit for the kingdom of God.
