TODAY'S FOOD FOR THE SOUL John 15:1-8
TODAY'S RHEMA John 15:4 "Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me."
Jessie was a little girl who loved all about plants. She diligently helped her mother to tend to her plants in their backyard. On her birthday, her father bought her a grape vine. Jessie was so thrilled because she had never seen a grape vine before. She watered her grape vine, checked on the leaves, and the branches every single day. Days has passed but the grapevine looked the same, no flower, what's more fruit. Jessie was sad and asked her father about it. Her father smiled and gave her some grapes toy for her to put on the vine. Jessie didn't understand why her father did what he did. He then explained to her that the grape vine he gave her was an imitation. It wasn't a real grape vine, therefore the grapevine remained fruitless. Jessie understood that to have real grapes, she has to have a real grape vine where the root took its food from the soil and its branches attached strongly to the vine.
The world offers us many fake "grapevines" from receiving all kind of blessings like smart brain, skill, job, connection, position, great name, wealth, house, beauty, academic achievement, or many other, however, don't think that all of those are the source of blessing itself.
To receive all of those aren't wrong, it is indeed good. However, when we make all of those as our "grapevine' as the source of our lives, the source of our happiness, we are in fact cling ourselves to the wrong source. When we do that, we will be a dry branch, fruitless, and can't enjoy the real favor God initially prepared for us from the beginning. We have to understand that all kind of achievement we achieve, all comes from the Lord. In order to have meaningful life, fruitful life, we have to acknowledge that God is the source of our favor. God is the place for us to depend on, and receive all the life supplies. REFLECTION Saudara Terkasih, when we don't realize that God is the source of favor, our lives shall be dry and fruitless.
