Blessing or The Source of Blessing Keluarga Allah Daily Devotional January 10, 2017
TODAY'S FOOD FOR THE SOUL Matthew 6:25-34
TODAY'S RHEMA Matthew 6:33 "But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well."
A very rich widower had a son who loved to collect well-known paintings. Masterpiece painting of Picasso, Van Gogh, Monet and many other painters were hung in their living room. One day his son whom on duty for a military work was dead on the battlefield. Before he died, he made a painting of himself while he was on duty. The widower kept all of his son's collection as well as the painting his son painted before the incident very well until his last breath. The widower was then also met his end. Through the will he left to his lawyers, he put his son's collections on auction. Art lovers came from all corner of the world. The auction began with the painting of his son's. A painting of which was not listed in any famous museum. Minutes after minutes passed with nobody made a bid. The crowd began to murmur, "Nobody wants to buy a useless painting like that! It is just the painting of the dead son. Move to other painting please." Some people agreed. "No! We have to sell this painting first before anything else." said the Auctioneer. A neighbor finally placed the first bid for ten dollars. "That's all I have. I know his father well that is why I want to buy the painting." The auctioneer then asked if there is any higher bid but apparently nobody interested but the neighbor alone. The painting then officially belong to the first buyer. Applause filled the room and the auctioneer continued onto the next auction. "Now, we've come to the last part of the auction." The auctioneer announced that the auction was done. Someone from the crowd asked, "What do you mean with that? There are million dollars painting here and you just said that the auction is done? We've come for those million dollars painting, not for that useless painting. Please explain to us." The auctioneer then explained to them that according to the will of the widower whoever willing to buy the painting of his son would also get all of the other paintings.
From the story above we could learn that when we put God first above all else, God the source of favor, then our life will be filled with favor as well. We have to understand and realize that the source of all of our achievements no other than Jesus Christ. Therefore, acknowledge that God is our source of favor, attach to Him and be fruitful.
REFLECTION Saudara Terkasih, only when we could differentiate between the source of blessing and the channel of blessing, then we could experience the beautiful favor of God.
APPLICATION
What is the difference between the source of blessing and the channel of blessing?
Think back and ask yourself, all these time, where did you attach yourself to? To the source of blessing or to the channel of blessing?
What can you do to make Jesus as the source of your blessing?
TODAY'S PRAYER "Thank you, Jesus, for the favor you have given me. I believe that whatever I have achieved or received come from you alone because you are the source of blessing in my life. In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen."
