TODAY'S FOOD FOR THE SOUL
1 Samuel 16: 1 - 13
TODAY'S RHEMA 1 Samuel 16: 7b "The LORD does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart."
One time, God sent Prophet Samuel to anoint one of Jesse's sons in Bethlehem to be the king of Israel. Jesse thought that God must have chosen one of his sons who had the good-looking appearance or the height of stature. That's why he overlooked David, his youngest son, who was still young and to him; didn't have a good figure to be a king nor hero. However, God rejected the seven sons of Jesse who were at home, including Eliab, Abinadab, and Shammah. When David was brought to them, God showed who He had chosen. The choice of God was far different from the choice of Jesse and Samuel. It was not the outward appearance of God to choose but was the heart. History proves that God's choice was right, David became the greatest king in Israel's history and he was also known as a man's after God's own heart.
As what Samuel and Jesse did, we oftentimes tend to look at the outward appearance than what is inside. We find it difficult to see the kindness of the people around us, our eyes focus on their fault and the hurt they have caused. Whether or not we realize it, when we do that, we judge and give them the negative label. However, through the Scripture today, we learn that how the way God sees is different from how the way we see. God cares about what happens inside our hearts rather than the outward appearance of ours because He sees us with love.
God wants us to see people as He does. God knows surely knows our flaws, that's the reason why we need to be filled with the love of God. Yes, when we are filled with the love of God, we will be able to see others differently. Instead of easily judging others, we'll be able to speak the words that build them up. Thus, vision to love God and people with passion can be accomplished.

TODAY'S PRAYER "My good Father, fill my life with Your love. I want to see others with the eyes of love so that I can love my neighbors as myself and bring them closer to Your love. In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen."
