TODAY'S FOOD FOR THE SOUL
1 John 4:7-12
TODAY'S RHEMA 1 John 4:7 "Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God."
Every human being has the ability to love. It is an instinct, the ability to empathize and willingly sacrifice for the ones we love. Moreover, the love of parents to their children, no matter how bad the children are and no matter how bad their children hurt them, they are still able to forgive and accept them. After all, the child is their flesh and blood. No matter how much humans love, it comes with "terms and conditions". The relationship between us and certain people are defined by how good they are to us. This is the way the world understands love. However, is that real love? Is it God's standard for love?
We need to remember, God's love is unconditional. The way He sees us is different. We might think that the person who annoys us is not worthy of our love. That's not how God works. If we reflect on ourselves, we also don't deserve God's love. Don't we always ignore and hurt His heart? We even repeat the same mistakes after we have promised to change. However, His great love makes Him see us beyond our mistakes. He sees His children heart in need of His overflowing love.
If we can see others beyond their weaknesses, we'll be able to love them. However, we need to know who God is and personally experience Him if we want to love like Him. For love to be unconditional, just like His, it must come from Him only. Without experiencing His love in the first place, we will only be able to love by the world's standard. With the love of God, we are able to ignore all the weaknesses and even love the most difficult people. We become capable of doing good to them, pray for them, and serve them wholeheartedly. That way "Love God, Love People with Passion" is not merely a slogan but a way of life.
REFLECTION
"Saudara Terkasih, When your heart is FILLED WITH GOD'S LOVE, you are able TO SEE THE WAY GOD SEES."
APPLICATIONS
What is the essence of loving?
Reflect on how great God's love is for you. Do you deserve to receive His love? Don't other people also deserve His love?
How will you be able to see others the way God sees?What does it mean with the eyes of love?
TODAY'S PRAYER "Jesus, I can't be thankful enough for Your love for me. Your love is so great that I can only fall on my knees in appreciation. Teach me to love like You, so that I can see the way You see. In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen."
