TODAY'S FOOD FOR THE SOUL 1 John 4:15-18 TODAY'S RHEMA 1 John 4:18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love.
On one heavily-rained night, lightning and thunder sound created a fearful atmosphere. In a small house on the seashore, a little Adam trembled in fear in his blanket. This evening, his sister had just told him about a sea monster who went around in the stormy night to kidnap children to be its food. Occasionally, Adam peeped outside the window from his thick blanket. He could see stormy sea, lighting and sounded-explosion thunder in the sky. Adam screamed loudly and fully covering his body with his blanket. A moment later, there's a hand touched this little body. "The monster came!", he screamed fearfully but a soft voice said: "Adam, it's daddy, open up your eyes, kid, look at me!" Then, Adam opened his eyes and found his father. He soon hugged his father and was in peace under his father's arms. Though the stormy night still continued, Adam could have restful sleep till morning.
Everyone must ever feel afraid in his/her life. We may be afraid of a thunderstorm, darkness, wild animal, our upper authority, debt, illness, big challenge, loneliness or future. Many things in this world can trap us in fear, so we have no courage to face tomorrow.
Nevertheless, when we turn around our focus towards problems onto the Father in heaven, we will find His limitless love. The love which can cast out all fears, even the biggest one. The love which assures that not a second we're left unattended from His eyes. Yes, it's only in God, we're able to find the courage to anchor our faith and hope into God's promises and experience the true freedom. REFLECTION Saudara Terkasih, OPEN YOUR HEART so that God can transform FEARFUL LIFE into FAITHFUL AND BOLD LIFE. APPLICATIONS 1. What fears are you experiencing right now? 2. TODAY'S PRAYER "Kind Father, thank You for being with me through my joy and sorrow. You understand, care and never stop work in my life. No matter what I'm experiencing now, strengthen my heart that I will pass through it with You. Your love that fear turns into strength which enables me to face a bright future. In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen."
