Mila and Robby were mixed race couples. Mila liked to eat sweet food meanwhile Robby liked spicy cuisine. This taste difference made Robby often comment on his wife's cooking. One time, Mila who could not accept her husband's opinion finally burst into anger. A fight ensued. Robby did not think Mila would be so angry. He felt he only gave her an advice while Mila felt her husband had never appreciated his efforts to prepare food. Not wanting to get into a fight, Robby stepped into the terrace of the house. He tried to be silent and to reflect. Suddenly there's a sound in his heart said, "Apologize first." Although he felt that there was nothing wrong with his comments, he tried to humble himself and apologize first. Unexpectedly, this turned out to melt Mila's heart. He was determined to learn to cook food that Robby liked.
Often, the cause of a fight that is not finished is not too big a problem, but a heart that is too hard or arrogant to want to humble themselves and apologize first. The Word says Before destruction the heart of a man is haughty, And before honor is humility. (Proverbs 18:12). Robby may never have thought when he opened his heart, humbled himself to apologize beforehand, he did not just unravel the point of conflict, but he also had the honor of his wife who longed to serve him even better.
From now on, no matter who is right or who is wrong, let's step in first to apologize. The husband does not feel proud to apologize first, so the wife. Parents don't feel too old to apologize first, so the child. Wear a robe of humility. Because humility is the gateway to true independence, one of which is independence from conflict.
