TODAY'S FOOD FOR THE SOUL 1 Corinthians 9:23-27
TODAY'S RHEMA
1 Corinthians 9:27 "But I disciplined my body and bring it into subjection, lest, when I have preached to others, I myself should become disqualified."
There was a story of one of Walt Disney's animation, in 1934, about a race between the slow turtle and the fast rabbit. In the story was told that few second after the race was started, the Rabbit ran far ahead of Turtle. To see that the Turtle was far behind him, the Rabbit stopped for a moment, laughed and mocked him. He then decided to play around with another rabbit before then take a nap for a moment. When he heard many people cheering near the finish line, he stopped fooling around and started to run again. Unfortunately, no matter how fast the rabbit could run, he was beaten by the turtle.
How many of us did the same thing as the rabbit? At first, we were burned by the fiery love of God, spiritually grow very fast. Until the moment we feel like we are spiritually mature enough, we start to take things easy and get distracted. In the morning we feel better to have a little more sleep rather than to have an intimate time with God in prayer. Or we choose to do other at night like relaxing or watching TV rather have quiet time in prayer. Without realizing it, we are tending more to our flesh than to our spirit. In the end, our relationship with God becomes dry and the first love gradually to fade away.
In Corinthians, Paul reminded us, that our Christianity life is like a competition. We should always remember our true goal. Do not be fixated and wasting our time to what this world serves us. Do not give way to the devil to infiltrate and ruin our relationship with God. We have to fight, like what Paul said that we have to train our body, we also have to train our flesh life. Learn how to control yourself and spirit overcome our fleshly desire.
