TODAY'S FOOD FOR THE SOUL Matthew 6:25-34
TODAY'S RHEMA Matthew 6:33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.
Thomas Barnardo is one of greatest Christian heroes living in the 1800's. When he was 17 he was called to become a missionary in China. In order to prepare himself, he went to London. In his spare time, Thomas taught in a special school designed for poor children and also preached in the East side of London. In a dark winter night, a child showed Thomas a particular place on a rooftop used by the child and other children to spend the night. Thomas then searched out and found that there were thousands of children in London who lived on the streets. Thomas made a prayer that the Lord would provide a shelter for them.
God's answer came not long after the prayer and it changed his life plan. A member of the parliament sent him a letter specifically recommending him to continue his ministry in London. Since then, Thomas had been providing shelter for the homeless. He brought them in, trained them in many skills, and introduced them to the love of God. Some of those children managed to become lawyers, doctors, musicians, academist, missionaries, navy commanders and some were even able to become state ministers. During Thomas Barnardo's ministry, more than 100,000 children had gained precious benefits coming out of his works. If he did not respond correctly at the first time, probably God would not be able to use him mightily as mentioned in the story above.
Many times, we like to think the plans we have for our life are as good as they are. But, sometimes, those plans merely originate from our own personal ambition. Today, we need to realize that God Himself has a greater purpose for us. It is not a simple thing to do when we have to prioritize the kingdom of God on top of our own interest. But if God has put that desire in our heart, then you should start to pray and step forward. Then a prayer saying: "your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven," will not only become mere words that we say in our prayer but something that we shall try to make it happen through our ministry. Thus, if we do that, we will be equipped with strength and ability to go forward until the kingdom of God is declared strongly and His Name be exalted through our ministry works. Amin.
