TODAY'S RHEMA
Proverbs 2: 4-5 "and if you look for it as for silver and search for it as for hidden treasure, then you will understand the fear of the LORD and find the knowledge of God."
16 December 1784, in a village of Welsh, England, a baby girl named Mary Jones was born. She grew up and loved the word of God so much. When she was 9, she wanted to have a Holy Bible so that she could read the word of God every day. In that time, Holy Bible in Welsh-language was not easy to find and expensive. Because her family did not have enough money to buy, she could not read a Bible. Not long after that, a school was opened near the village, about 2 miles from her house. Every day, Mary went to that school by herself to learn to read a Bible. She did trust that God had answered her prayer and she could prepare herself. And when she was ready, God would give her a Bible. Time by time, she could read Bible well and she was so excited to have her own Bible. After about 6 years she saved money, she had enough money to buy a Bible. Unfortunately, to get a Bible she had to meet Pastor Charles in Bala City, 26 miles away from her home. However, Mary did not give up, she walked through river and hills to meet Pastor Charles. In Church Leaders conference 1802, Pastor Charles shared about Mary's story and from there, British and Foreign Bible Society was formed.s The society provided Bibles for people in about 200 places around the world for about 200 years until today.
It is very different compared to this very time where Holy Bible is very easy to be found and cheaper in price. Furthermore, with the advance of technology, people could download Bible application in their devices. However, many people had lost interest to read a Bible. The Bible no longer has become something precious to some people. Learning from Mary's story, she had the utmost thirst of the truth drove her to get the Bible no matter what. Just if we have an attitude just like Mary did, we surely will have the hunger and thirst like she did in the past. The more we thirst of the Word of God, the more we are committed, and the more we come closer to God.
