TODAY'S FOOD FOR THE SOUL Isaiah 30:1-17
TODAY'S RHEMA
Isaiah 30:15b "…in quietness and trust is your strength."
A mountain hiker was preparing to climb a mountain. At his back were bags and various carabiners hanging around, together with ropes rolling around his shoulder. It seemed that he was well prepared. In front of him, a high snowy mountain was waiting for him. The peak was not visible, blocked by white snow. Clouds were taking position, surrounding the mountain and no one could know what was hidden there. The hiker started to step forward, walking through the snowy paths strayed in front of him. The rod with a hook he brought and he started to dig in the soil every time he started to step on. After a few hours walking, he saw a steep wall. It was impossible for him to continue walking normally. He started to prepare the ropes and hook he kept in his bag. He started to climb up with the rope. After a while, he suddenly heard a loud noise coming from above, a great snow storm was ready to trap him. An avalanche hit him, solid snowballs kept falling down and wind pushed his body hard toward the wall of the mountain.
That storm went on for a few minutes, but luckily the ropes and the hooks had saved him from falling off the steep cliff. All of his equipment were gone, only left a knife in his bag and he was hanged upside down. He didn't know where he was because everything looked white. Fear filled his heart and mind. In the midst of his anxiousness, he started to pray, begging God to save from this disaster. His mouth kept mumbling, hoping for God's help to come. In a silent situation after the storm, he suddenly heard a sound coming out of his heart, "Cut that rope, cut that rope." He was confused, whether it was an instruction from the Lord or just out of his own feeling. Should he cut the rope that had saved him, or just cut it off? He was in confusion remembering that it was too steep out there. "My vision is blocked by snow, how can I know what lies beneath me?" So many questions in his heart. Finally he felt there was no other options, he calmed his heart down, mustered up his courage, and cut the rope. He was thrown out only a meter down to a surface of soft snow below him. He was saved. Strength, intelligence and power that we have are so limited. There will be time when we feel weak, as likely facing the wall, cannot do much about it. However, we are grateful to have the unlimited God, whose power overcomes all things and are always available to all of His children who want to stay in His presence and trust in Him. God will never abandon us alone. He will give a way out. He will defend us and give an extraordinary victory. Amen.
