Start with The Willingness of Your Heart

TODAY'S FOOD FOR THE SOUL
Luke 1:26-38

TODAY'S RHEMA
Luke 1:38 ""I am the Lord's servant," Mary answered. "May your word to me be fulfilled." Then the angel left her"

Food supply was running out of stock. It was enough only for one more day for the widow and her only son to survive. As usual, on that day she went to the woods to look for fire woods. She was so desperate waiting for the help of God that was not yet to come. However, there was faith and hope remained down in her heart that God's help would never come late. Suddenly there was a voice asking her for water from afar and she immediately gave him water to drink. He was also asking her for bread to eat. The widow was such in a crossroad, she was overwhelmed. She could give him bread but that would be the last bread she could make which was supposed to be a day meal for her and her son. How could she take such a difficult decision? The stranger who called himself as God's servant reminded her about the promise of God that she didn't have to be afraid. God would surely help her because her flour and oil never run empty when she decided to give her last meal to the servant of God.

Do you think the widow trusted the promise of God through His servant? Logically, the idea was absurd, to exchange the oil and flour which was physically there to something that she couldn't see at that moment. It doesn't make sense, does it? However, her faith remained strong and she chose to obey the work of God. Her faith brought her into a miracle. Her oil and flour supply didn't run empty until the rainy season came and it happened after she made the servant of God, Elijah, eat the bread.

God's way is unique and it's proven He knows everything what would come ahead and how it would end. The widow could have chosen the other way and her days ahead might not be as easy as it is if she chose to obey. She might have to work extra harder to meet her daily need, but see her life after she chose to obey: she just needed to pour the oil and flour out of the jar which would never run out empty.

To choose to obey will always be hard in the beginning. You need to put an extra effort in submitting your mind to the mind of Christ, to submit your will to the will of Christ, and we might even have to go against your logic. When there is still faith and heart that believe in God, that believe God's way is far more effective, easier, and better, in the end of the day, it will prove that His guidance is the truth that will give you freedom. Believe that obedience will never give any hard time but will give you a greater blessing.

REFLECTION
Saudara Terkasih, obedience is started with the WILLINGNESS OF HEART to confess that the Word of God is more righteous than our personal thoughts.

APPLICATION

Are there any resistances in your heart to live based on the Word of God as the guideline of your life?
What are the obstacles that hamper you to obey?
Write down your commitments to defeat the obstacles! Find a bible verse that you can use as a weapon.

TODAY'S PRAYER

"God, give me strength to believe Your Word more than anything. Let my heart become willing and obey to follow Your guidance. In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen"
