TODAY'S FOOD FOR THE SOUL
John 3:1-21
TODAY'S RHEMA John 3:16 "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."
There was a pedicab driver who lived in a small town. He was a very friendly and light-handed to help other people. Every day after his morning prayer in a local church, he spent his time to drive people around with his pedicab with small fee he received from his passenger. The great thing about this man was he had never complained about how much money he received from his customers neither did he set any price for his service regardless of the distance he had to go to drive his passenger. He did all sincerely and with a strong commitment. His customers liked him so much because he was such a friendly person and smiles were never absent from his face. No wonder, because of his kindness, many people who used his service paid more as tips.
At one moment, he saw a young boy who helped a lady to carry her shopping bag and received some small changes as payment for his service. One thing confusing this driver was because the boy still went on to look for leftover food in the garbage even though he just received some money earlier. The pedicab driver came to him and asked, "Why didn't you use your money to buy some food?" The boy then answered, "Because I want to use the money to buy food for my younger brothers." He was so touched and moved, he then drove him and his brothers to an orphanage. To see the condition of the orphanage, his heart was moved and said to the person in charge, "Every day, I will give my income to help those poor children who live here." Until the end of his life, this pedicab driver committed to giving his income to the orphanage. The last saving that he handed over was 650 thousand rupiahs before he died at the age of 93.
If a poor man like him was desirous to give everything he had out of love, so we are taught to be grateful always and share some blessing with others in need. We may give out of obligation but it is simply impossible to say that we love without giving.
REFLECTION Saudara Terkasih, it is impossible for us to love without giving because loving means giving.
APPLICATION
What would be your choice? Giving because you ought to or giving because you love?
God gave his only Son because He loves us, what can we give to God who has loved us first?
TODAY'S PRAYER
"Dear God, please give me a heart that loves You. I know You have loved me first so teach me to love You more. Give me wisdom so I could learn to give in love In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen."
