Dare to Obey Keluarga Allah Daily Devotional August 25, 2016
TODAY'S FOOD FOR THE SOUL Hebrews 11:1-40
TODAY'S RHEMA Hebrews 11:8 "By faith Abraham, when called to go to a place he would later receive as his inheritance, obeyed and went, even though he did not know where he was going."
It's not easy to obey. Especially when God requires us to do something we don't understand, something that we don't want to do and we don't expect to be coming, or something that drags our convenience away from us. We then question God, argue, and make some excuses to get away from God's will.
Abraham, he didn't understand the reason why God called him to leave his hometown and families. Why would he want to leave a comfortable life where he was surrounded by his loved ones? He didn't need anything else. Maybe in his age of 75, he needed more of comfort than money and power. A long journey to unknown place wouldn't be an ideal portray of comfortable living. He might find many reasons for him to disobey God, however Abraham chose to obey.
The obedience of Abraham not only bore him Isaac in his old age but also became a blessing to the world. Not only begot a great nation but he also became the father of the believer. In fact, through his descendant, God did His greatest work which was the salvation in Christ Jesus. All those occurrences took place because Abraham chose to obey.
If it happens right now God moving your heart to do something that doesn't make sense or even might harm in some ways, muster your courage to obey. Trust God, He will never fool you. Whatever it is, He always has a good intention and purpose in store. God will be our defendant when we need Him. In the end of the day, we will see His marvelous work in our life.
We might not understand why God requires us to do a certain thing. Our understanding is limited and no compares to God's, but that's okay because what God needs is your obedience.
REFLECTION Saudara Terkasih, TRUE OBEDIENCE is being confident to obey even though we don't understand and disagree.
APPLICATION
Is there something that God ask you to do? Have you done it? Why?
In your opinion, why should you obey?
What would you do to confidently obey?
TODAY'S PRAYER
"Thanks, Lord because You have reminded me about the importance of obedience. Give me the courage to obey Your will so I can do all things that You want me to do. Teach me to understand and believe in Your plan for my life. In Jesus name, I pray. Amen."
