TODAY'S FOOD FOR THE SOUL James 3:1-12 TODAY'S RHEMA James 3:10-11 Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. My brothers and sisters, this should not be. Can both fresh water and salt water flow from the same spring?
Jonny and Ben both worked as salesmen for a fabric and bed linen line. Almost every working day, they had to go around, sometimes even out of town to make a demonstration of the products. This work was quite hard for both of them, as not every day they made sales. Not meeting the monthly target of their company attracted the same complaint from their bosses. However, for over 6 months, both responded differently to their situations. Despite not having achieved a good sales record, Jonny maintained a positive outlook that he was able to successfully increase sales of his items on a monthly basis. In fact, he always prayed that his work would be successful. In his prayer, Jonny prophesied that he would get a job promotion. Ben, on the contrary, just cursed at his job. He felt that his life could not progress if he continued to work as a salesman. He even persuaded Jonny to look for another job. Different responses also produced different results. As time went by, Jonny began to get lots of bonuses and was promoted as an Account Manager, while Ben got fired by his boss. From the story of Jonny and Ben, the lesson to be learned is that the words of prophecy and evil words are not only contradictory but also one of the strongest spiritual battles. Consciously or unconsciously, our words contain enormous power. The words that proceed out of our mouths is what will befall us whether for good or evil.
For this reason, the word of God teaches us to watch our words. Do not let the words of blessing and cursing come out of the same mouth. When we feel the heavy burden of life, don't issue complaints after complaints. Instead, declare prophetic words over your life. Do it, until you witness God's mighty move in your life. REFLECTION Saudara Terkasih, One of the TOUGHEST SPIRITUAL BATTLE is WORDS OF PROPHECY vs WORDS OF EVIL. APPLICATIONS 1. Have you always spoken prophetically over your everyday life? Why or why not? 2. Why can the words of prophecy or curse affect your life? 3. After knowing the truth from God's word, what is your commitment to speak prophecies and stop speaking curses? TODAY'S PRAYER "Thank You, Lord, for Your teaching me about the words of prophecy and curses. Protect me, Father, from all the intimidation of the devil who tries to use negative words to bring me down. Train me to always think and speak positively. Thank you, Father. In the name of the Lord Jesus, I pray. Amen."
