TODAY'S FOOD FOR THE SOUL
1 John 4:7-19
TODAY'S RHEMA 1 John 4:16 "and so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them."
Francis of Assisi is well-known for his ministry to the poor and also those who were suffering leprosy. His life reflected the love of Christ when he declared about the revival of Europe in the 13th century. Nevertheless, he was previously afraid of having leprosy and he always avoided them. Until someday, when he was riding the horse nearby Assisi, he saw a white person back out the sunlight. "Leper!" he shouted and his heart was shrunk but the Holy Spirit reminded him about his first love toward Jesus. While he was pondering for a moment, he prayed to God and asked for His guidance so he was enabled to come close the leper and gave them money and hugged them. When he did that, he felt that he hugged someone else and He was no other but Jesus. Even one of his poems describes how he left the leper but suddenly he came back to them but he didn't found them. One thing for sure, this event became starting point of his amazing ministry
God's love enabled Francis to do what he did. When he decided to stay in God's love, Holy Spirit filled up his heart more and he was full of compassion toward the people with leprosy.
If we live in God's love, our lives are united with God. What we ever think is God's thinking and our actions will be as His desire and we should to keep maintaining our first love of Christ and keep living in the union with Holy Spirit. We have to add our portion when we having a devotional session, reading the Bible and daily devotional. Keep them as our lifestyle then Holy Spirit will keep filling up our lives. When we are united with God, we will experience great victories. Amen REFLECTION Saudara Terkasih, The key TO BEING IN UNION WITH GOD is return to your FIRST LOVE for God. APPLICATION 1. What is having union with God and love? 2. Why do we need the fullness of Holy Spirit for this? 3. How do you maintain the first love remains in your heart?
TODAY'S PRAYER "God, keep me fulfilled with Your Holy Spirit. I want Your love to remain in my heart so I could be in union with You. In Jesus name, I pray. Amen"
