TODAY'S FOOD FOR THE SOUL Romans 12:1-11
TODAY'S RHEMA
Romans 12:2 "Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is--his good, pleasing and perfect will."
Kelvin Soh was born in broken family. His mother left him while he was still a baby and his father was a drug addict. Because of the circumstances, inevitably Kelvin became a drug addict as well because of the bad influence of his corrupted company. Since he was 13, he spent 24 years being in and out of prison. Despite his scary appearance, through the deepest of his heart, he wanted to be a good person.
In 1998, he asked for a storybook to a warden. He was given a Mandarin Bible. While he was reading it, he felt God was opening His hands and said, "Come back to me, My son." The feeling of joy overwhelmed him and, he was wholeheartedly surrendering his life to God ever since. In the prison, he participated in Bible study program for 18 months. He spent his time with praying, reflecting the words of God and was encouraged to write songs thou he didn't understand about the tones and notes. His life changing drew the attention of his fellows to repent. After he got out from jail, he was traveling around Asian countries in a ministry to sing his own gospel songs, to share his amazing testimonies and to bring hope to those who in need.
Now, when we are thinking about God's favor, we tend to have an impression it has to be something material. But through Kelvin's life, we could see that the worldly pleasures emptied our heart. When he sought God, favor by favor was bestowed by God and overtime, Kelvin was able to keep on doing greater things for God.
As long as we live, don't waste our time to pursue physical things. Do not just believe in God but take real steps to improve our spiritual life and faith maturity. When we are overwhelmed by Divine wisdom, we could see that God bestow His favors overwhelmingly.
REFLECTION Saudara Terkasih, God does not give us a favor to enjoy worldly pleasures but to grow spiritually.
