TODAY'S FOOD FOR THE SOUL

Romans 13: 7-14

TODAY'S RHEMA
Romans 13: 8a "Let no debt remain understanding, except the continuing debt to love one another,"

Jessie was a housewife. She had complicated financial problems. Her husband worked as a daily labor worker with insufficient salary. She intended to increase the income by selling juice in front of her house. A few days later, only a few people came to her stall and her juice wasn't sold out. It's because there was a small new café selling various beverages nearby their house. This variety attracted many people to come. To compete for that café, Jessie took a debt one hundred thousand rupiahs from a moneylender. However, it didn't make any change to her stall and it was still only a few customers coming. This situation made her unable to pay her loan. She was trapped in a financial difficulty. At the same time, she had to pay the school fee of her 2 children. She took a debt again from another moneylender. She was afraid to tell her husband about the problem. Thus, she borrowed money from one moneylender to another. This habit had lasted for 4 years until she found that her debt had accumulated to eighteen million rupiahs. Somehow her husband found out about her problem and their financial has gotten worse since then. They lived in fear of the money lender who could come and threaten them.

The illustration above may happen to anyone, including the children of God. However, the Word of God clearly forbids us to have a debt so that we could live in peace. To live in debt means we violate the Words of God and that we are doubting His promises.

If now you have been indebted and you can't pay it, confess your mistake before God. Ask God to renew your faith towards His promise. Start to manage your finance based on biblical mindset then try to pay until you become debt-free. Just believe, if you have a commitment to overcome your financial problems His way, the faithful God is able to provide and make a way for you. Let your faith in Jesus be a witness for many.

REFLECTION
Saudara Terkasih, debt has a potential to become a DANGEROUS SNARE and to rob our FREEDOM, thus The Word of God does not suggest us from having any debt to
anyone.

APPLICATION
  1. These times, what is your view about debt?
  2. Why doesn't God want His children to have a debt?
  3. What commitment will you take to overcome your financial problem or debt (if any)?
TODAY'S PRAYER
"Dear God, please have mercy on me for I don't realize that having much debt displeasing Your heart. I admit my mistake and will turn from my wrong ways. Guide my way,o Lord so that I can be free from my problem as Your will for me to have a life and have it abundantly. In the name of Lord Jesus, I pray. Amen."
