TODAY'S FOOD FOR THE SOUL John 4:1-26 TODAY'S RHEMA John 4:22-23 You Samaritans worship what you do not know; we worship what we do know, for salvation is from the Jews. 23 Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks.
Advancing technology creates ease of communication. Now distance is no longer a big obstacle in a relationship. We can easily exchange news with loved ones. We are also willing to allocate a large number of funds to have communication tools that are more sophisticated and have more supporting features in order to be as close as possible with our loved ones. On the other hand, what kind of effort or investment have we made to continue to be able to have an intimate relationship with God? Who is he in our lives? God who only knows His story in the Bible and is far away in heaven, or a close friend who is always close to our hearts?
One truth we need to know, God wants a close relationship with us, His children. Relationships are very intimate, and there is nothing or anyone standing between God and us. Like a lover, the Lord Jesus loves us so deeply. He wants us to feel and experience Him personally and even deeper.
Unlike the Israelites who even though they were called God's people, who lived in His extraordinary care and help, but they did not really know who their God was. They are physically close to God's blessings, but their hearts were far from Him. They only worship God from a distance, separated by the veil and the Holy of Holies. Only selected people can draw close to God. That is why worship at the tabernacle of Moses or the temple of God at that time felt formal, stiff and dry. This is not what our Lord Jesus Christ wants. He told the Samaritan woman at the edge of the well, He wanted His presence to be no longer blocked by place and time. He wants to meet us personally, wherever and whenever. Let's open our hearts so that we can experience the dimension of God's love that we have never experienced before. REFLECTION Saudara Terkasih, There is a BIG DIFFERENCE between worshiping God FROM AFAR and EXPERIENCING INTIMACY with God. APPLICATIONS 1. What do you think is meant by being intimate with God? Are you intimate enough with God? 2. What difference do you feel when you are intimate with God? 3. How can you continue to have intimate relationships with God? TODAY'S PRAYER "Lord Jesus, thank you for your deep love, you sacrifice yourself that I may be able to come closer to you. O God I long to want to know you deeper, and to experience you even more. Bring me I more intimate relationship with You day after day, so that Your love will be overflowing in my life, that others may see your love through my life. In the name of the Lord Jesus, I pray. Amen. "
