Presidential adviser during the time of Richard Nixon, Charles "Chuck" Colson had just come into contact with the gospel when he was involved in the Watergate scandal in 1973. As the result, he had to spend seven months in prison. However, shortly after that, his son caused a very serious problem. That's when he got a call from Al Quie, the most respected public figure in Washington and his prayer group friend. Quie said, "Chuck, I am thinking about what I can do to help you. There is a law that someone told me. I will ask the President whether I can live the rest of your sentence for you." Hearing that, of course, Colson was surprised. "I mean it, Chuck," Quie said again. "I am not kidding."
Although Colson was finally released and Al Quie did not need to replace him in prison, that day was the turning point of Colson's life. Through Al Quie's sacrifice, he gained a deep understanding of the love and sacrifice of the Lord Jesus on the cross. How an innocent person is willing to sacrifice himself for a condemned person. Colson fell down, "Lord if this is what you want, I praise you for giving me your love through these people. Now let me walk in the guidance of the Holy Spirit." That night he received a visit of the Holy Spirit.
One of the most important things in life is to realize that God loves us deeply. Experiencing and feeling God's Love in our lives replaces all burdens and problems into relief. His love changes the attitude of our hearts and opens our minds. Various life issues are no longer our focus, but the desire to enjoy a personal relationship with God. When God becomes our main goal, the Holy Spirit will love to live in us and visit our lives. We will not only receive recovery, blessings, and miracles but also experience God deeper. Amen.
